Roxann Engel

Professional Electrologist

I am a mother, educator, counselor and professional electrologist.

I strive to utilize these backgrounds to provide personable, private, and professional electrolysis services while also educating clients on the benefits of Electrolysis!

As a former electrolysis client and proponent, I quickly realized that electrolysis services  are limited in the Black Hills upon moving here in 2015. This has led me to the path of receiving training at the Berkowits School of Electrolysis in Forest Hills, New York and opening my own office to provide these life-changing services to people throughout the Black Hills region.

As an Educator, Counselor and Professional Electrologist, I provide these services by appointment only, outside of the school day.  Please feel free to email or call me to schedule an appointment.

Amber Boateng

Electrologist

I am also a mother and licensed cosmetologist.

I have been a licensed cosmetologist in Spearfish and the Black Hills for over two decades. My background knowledge of hair and skin, along with my continued education and interest in the field of aesthetics, lend themselves well to the field of electrolysis. I love helping others feel better about themselves through electrolysis.

Consultations are offered free of charge to answer questions, explain how electrolysis works, and discuss how to get the best results.  If you’re a better candidate for laser, with electrolysis as a follow-up, we will share that information with you.  Our primary goal is to assist you with permanent hair removal!

Services

Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal and is safe and effective for all hair and skin types. The process involves introducing light heat into the hair follicle. When the heat connects with moisture it works to destroy the blood supply to the follicle.

Unwanted hair is a common problem, and has many contributing factors, including genetics, topic hair removal methods, medications, and hormonal influences.  Most people have unwanted hair and use temporary methods of hair removal for years, many of which can worsen the unwanted hair problem. Why not invest now in permanent hair removal?

Electrolysis Instead of Laser

Have you been told you’re not a good candidate for laser?  You can turn to electrolysis!

Laser is a common approach to treating unwanted hair, and is effective in certain situations and with certain hair and skin types. However, even for the perfect candidate, the FDA approves laser as a method of permanent hair reduction, not permanent removal. Generally there can be 10% of hairs that are not destroyed through laser.  Additionally, laser does not work effectively on blonde hair or dark skin and can be cost prohibitive, particularly if you want multiple areas treated.

Therefore, Electrolysis can be a great way to finish up after laser treatments for those hairs that resist treatment, or for individuals with certain hair or skin types.

Common Areas Treated by Electrolysis

Although Electrolysis can be done anywhere on the body*, common areas treated by electrolysis include:

  • Eyebrows
  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Breasts
  • Ears
  • Stomach

* Black Hills Electrolysis does not treat the bikini/briefs area at this time.
